Counselling

My approach to counselling is to provide a safe and comfortable place for you to process and have the support to release stress and create space for more joy and happiness.  I feel it is important to draw on your existing strengths and knowledge to move forward to towards your desired and most joyful state of being.   

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing EMDR

EMDR is a technique used to assist with the processing of trauma, anxiety, and various emotional states which are trapped in the nervous system.  EMDR is highly recognized by world renowned Psychiatrist, Dr. Bessel VanderKolk, Therapist, Pat Ogden, and other professionals working with trauma as an effect healing technique.  I have had the EMDR training since 2003 and have been using the technique since then.  I find it to be effective for many individuals and would be happy to discuss it further with you.

Emotional Freedom Techniques - EFT

Also known as tapping EFT is a tool which also helps to remove trauma and stress from the nervous system and ultimately the body by accessing meridian points in the body.  There are variations of how this can be tailored to your needs and you can also learn to do this at home.  It is a helpful tool to not only release emotion but also to create what you want more of in your life.

My Approach

I have the deepest respect for all human beings and our plight to invite joy into our lives by continuing to process the issues that arise in our lives.  I recognize that in doing this we embark upon a journey which may forever change us but at the same time it moves us towards a better understanding of ourselves and others.  This understanding can lead us to have more compassion and love for ourselves and others.

We are all unique in how we approach this journey and there is definitely more than one road that can take us there. So the counselling I provide is to help you find the way that will work for you.  I hope to provide you with some options but also help you to connect with your intuition to help you decide what might work for you.  Sometimes the answers are within or we have a strong resonance with them when they show up.  This is and important part of the work.

 

I have a strong grounding in yoga and meditation and find these a very useful in holding space for you to do your work and if you are so inclined to learn more about yourself.  You may find you can connect deeper with yourself through yoga, meditation and/or mindfulness.  And in there you may find a joyful and peaceful place.
